Back in 2007, when God started my spiritual warfare ministry (notice how I phrased that), I had no idea what deliverance ministry was. Long story short (covered in A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - the Power to PULL the IMPOSSIBLE from the HEAVENLY REALMS ), I found myself several months later on the streets of San Francisco, doing homeless ministry, through Bob Johnson's City Ministries, Night Strike on Friday nights. My very first night on a Night Strike, I was in the Tenderloin with my team, led by husband and wife, Wayne and Diane. Also on our small team were, Matthew (aka Hollywood) whom would stay on with me later as a key Night Strike member, and Mark, who was the youth pastor, from Harvest Christian Church (but has since moved on). On the streets, we encountered a homeless woman, I handed her some warm soup and started talking with her. I asked her if she would like for me to pray with her. But I think this was the title of the evening that unfolded last Friday night, October 25, 2013. Bob and Kimberly Johnson ministries brought a street ministry team down from Redding, Ca. With our Night Strike leaders and the team from BKJM we probably had about 30 people in all out on the streets with us. On this particular evening my team I was on was attempting to leave the plaza at Felton and Hyde, only God kept sending the people to us. Every once in a while the paranormal reality shows produce an episode that are worthy of the M16 commentary. Yes, it's time again to arm chair quarter back, or this context, an arm chair exorcise, another episode of Ghost Adventures, the Sedamsville Rectory, which aired Friday 10/19/2012. This episode is chalked full of little exorcism tidbits rarely seen in a paranormal show. In this episode, there is a restoration of an old rectory taking place in (or near) Cincinnati, Ohio. The owners,   Tim Brazeal and Terrie Scott, believe there is demonic activity going on in the rectory (called demonic infestation). The Friday recap is being posted late. Sorry. Friday was very busy and I sat through some long sessions on exorcism, about an hour and a 1/2 each. The first session was led by Fr Grob, of the Chicago diocese. He was informative and gave a basis of what the ministry of exorcism is. It's a healing ministry that involves the expulsion of demons. The Roman Catholics make a distinction in their battle with demons where deliverance ministry is used for most demonic oppression and exorcism is used for demonic possession. Demonic possession requires that one give themselves over in some manner to the demon. Willfully participating in the occult would be an example of this. One of the interesting comments I heard from Fr. Grob is that he thought no other Christian denominations dealt with demonic possession. When it comes to spiritual warfare and engaging demons the Church tends to be all over the map. From our ministry experience, we have seen time after time where the follower of Jesus is being attacked by a spiritual midget and they don't use their spiritual authority over the situation. Yet, the same individual is called to corporate prayer, they will go straight after a principality and bind them. We have witnessed this with intercessors too, who will bind the demonic kings in their corporate prayers and yet be the first person to run out the door in fear when a spiritual midget manifests in an oppressed person. For some reason we define our spiritual authority in being able to pick a fight with a demonic king. When we are oppressed we run with our tail between our legs screaming, “Help. Welcome to 2012 2011 was an incredible year for our ministry. Our ministry has been humbled by the number of people who the Lord put in contact with us and allowed our ministry to meet their needs. The Father has come and met the needs of His children, some in their darkest hour. The light of Jesus Christ has always come crashing through. Some people we get to meet first hand, others we meet with a phone call. Our magic jack, which I have renamed the Jesus Jack, has become indispensable in ministry and reaching others, whom we can't meet in person. The ministry exploded with the release of the Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - the POWER to PULL the IMPOSSIBLE from the HEAVENLY REALM (FGSW). We have received e-mails from people who read the book and met Jesus face down on their floor in the middle of demonic battle. It's October and everyone loves a good "Holy" Ghost story. This one comes from our adevntures at Burning Man 2011. Lisa and I went with a team, put together by Cindy McGill of Hope for the Harvest, to go to Burning Man and help people have encounters with the Holy Ghost. This story occurs mid-week in our Burning Man adventure. It's Wednesday, around dinner time, and one of our team members, Marilyn was working with a woman who was having a spirit manifestation in the encounters tent. Sometimes during Holy Ghost encounters, people with spirits will manifest in the presence of the creator. This woman, whom we'll call Alice, was doubled over and her stomach was in pain. We usually work in groups, and Marilyn was alone. One of our team members came out and got me and told me of the spirit that was manifesting. I found an interesting documentary on youtube that investigates, through the spiritualists' eyes, the demonic possession of two young girls in the 1800s. These spiritualist beliefs are carried over today in paranormal television shows and ghost hunting. Be aware of what you're watching! I arm chair quarter backed this one with my comments below. And I inserted scripture which counters what the documentary is trying to convey -spiritualism. It's an hour and half documentary. So turn off the cell phone and microwave some pop corn. Paranormal shows are on every popular cable network now, including Animal Planet (with the Haunted series). Paranormal is a cheap reality tv cash cow and audiences can't get enough of it. Some speculate the shows are faked others stay glued to the evidence being displayed with religious fervor. When we see a chair move or hear a disembodied voice on these shows what are really dealing with? Some say it is the proof of an afterlife. Is it? Are there really ghosts? Well, there must be we see them on paranormal reality tv, right? We must tread carefully, as Christians, when we answer these questions. What does the Bible say about ghosts? It doesn't really mention them at all. Some Christians have let spiritualism, the spiritual beliefs of practicing pyschics and mediums seep into their faith. M16 Ministries Prophetic Evangelism and Healing: Love The Sinner Many times when we go out on the streets we'll encounter people involved in the dark arts. Every person in creation is a child of God. We pray with these people too. So will let us pray for them and some won't. That's just the way it is. If they allow us to pray with them, God shows up in big ways. Many people e-mail M16 requesting training in deliverance. Here is a snapshot of our training we provide to churches. The videography isn't all that spectacular. One question we get asked the most is, “How do I bless my house?” It’s rather simple and we’ll outline it here for you. The one thing you will notice is that the way M16 likes to bless homes isn’t ritualistic. We like to invite the creator of the universe onto our land and into our house. We bless a house by communing with the Holy Spirit. God wants to interact with us and be involved in our lives. So we don’t ramble prayers off a sheet of paper. There are many reasons to bless your house, ranging from just creating an environment pleasing to God to dwell in your home to driving out evil spirits. When God comes, He is their commander, and the bad spirits leave. Blessing a house makes it desirable to God and undesirable to evil. When I bless my own home I walk the four corners of my property.
