First Stages of Connecting with God and Trauma Survivors

Most of my posts have been following the subject matter of connecting with God. Again, this is the learning season I am in right now with God.  The season is how to get fractured souls to connect with God. If you're new to this blog, M16 Ministries works with dark cases of spiritual warfare and survivors of severe trauma. By the time I start to work with survivors, many of them have had their faith brutally challenged and emotionally crushed. When working with these cases, it's a long-term commitment to working with a spiritually afflicted and fractured souls. The starting point in nearly all the cases I have worked with is determining where the soul in front of me is at in their spiritual walk. Having a soul, regardless of being spiritually afflicted, or fractured, must be able to connect with God in some manner to begin the healing process. Many Christians can't fathom the notion that a soul has endured such trauma that it has turned away from God. Some souls that receive lots of prayers and no response in their healing prayer can start to believe God has forsaken them.

This is where we must be careful in ministry, to make sure our efforts are restoring the broken soul and not pushing it further away from God.

In my sessions, I will allow months to years to slowly walk a soul back into connecting with God. A lot of patience is required and a lot of small nudging with spiritual direction. God does not waste time in waiting for the soul to come around. He still brings in healing. The challenge is working with a traumatized soul that rejects God and blames Him for the current state of pain and reliving of trauma. Why won't God simply shut it off? In this question lies the contention with parts in the fractured soul who simply want to blame Jesus and not talk with Him at all. Then there are the other fractured parts in the soul who want to connect with Jesus but are blocked by the internal angry parts who don't. The normal church styles of evangelism are no longer effective in this ministry process.

Ministry is in baby steps. You check in with the soul and see where they're at in the spiritual walk. Many times a soul that rejects God isn't rejecting God. They're rejecting a false doctrine that was forced upon them in their own walk. Many times this false doctrine comes from other well meaning Christians, but the spiritual advice they're offering is more damaging than helpful. This occurs a lot when the well-meaning Christian doesn't understand the depths of the struggle of the person they are offering spiritual advice too. And what comes out is a soul-ish Christian-ese opinion that is nowhere helpful, or worse yet condemning, to the person's current state of trauma. Most survivors tell me they are tired of religion and not Jesus. Religion is the over-zealous Christian offering ungodly, but soul driven, Biblical advice. This is the state of the soul we work with when we're trying to get the religiously battered soul to reconnect with God.

To one who is spiritually traumatized, there are ways to connect or reconnect with God. First of all, you must give yourself lots of patience in this process. There are mental prayer exercises you can do to align faculties, and the parts, that want to connect with God. The first exercise is to practice, what Saint Teresa of Avila, called recollection. This is the process of practicing the presence of God. With multiple parts in your head and some parts are angry at God, this can be difficult and challenging. But the goal of this exercise is to practice throughout the day, to simply think about God.

Maybe you're at work, and going to get some water from the water cooler. Perfect time to check in with God. Maybe visualize Him in your imagination. Because some of the people I work with are ritual abuse survivors, I gave them cards with the picture of Jesus on it. To help them, refocus their imagination on what the true Jesus can look like for meditation. This is called practicing the presence of God. There is no dialogue, no visions, no supernatural going to heaven experiences. It's simply having your parts, who want to connect with God, to simply start the basic steps of mental prayer. It's kind of like learning to dial God's phone number. If you master visualizing Jesus, maybe the next step is to try and talk to Him. The communication will be one-sided and in baby steps. That's okay. Some souls are frustrated that they have been Christian for decades and have never heard from God. Many churches don't equip the saints in mental prayer, and we have to deal with this problem late in the spiritual walk. That's ok. There is no time like the present to start trying to connect with God.

But what if I don't hear God? That's ok! Just relax and take your time with this. I call this priming the pump. Praying to God requires a lot of work on our end, in patience and consistency. Never be frustrated. When you connect with God, listen for the quiet and the peace. This is Psalm 46:10. Be still and know that I am God. Quiet and stillness is typically a very good indicator that your call went through. If some parts don't want to cooperate, just work with the parts who do. It's usually the internal evangelism process that eventually reaches the hurting parts inside.

Well, that's enough for now. Hope this was beneficial.

Connecting with God for Survivors of Severe Trauma

This is my equipping session from Remnant on May 13, 2017 for survivors of severe trauma who want to learn to connect with God in mental prayer. Having dissociative identity order (DID) can make it tough to still the mind and be in the presence of God. This is the workshop I gave to the In the Potter's Hands community group on stilling the faculties to listen for God.

A Little Background Before We Dive In

Back in 2007, when God started my spiritual warfare ministry (notice how I phrased that), I had no idea what deliverance ministry was. Long story short (covered in A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare - the Power to PULL the IMPOSSIBLE from the HEAVENLY REALMS), I found myself several months later on the streets of San Francisco, doing homeless ministry, through Bob Johnson's City Ministries, Night Strike on Friday nights. My very first night on a Night Strike, I was in the Tenderloin with my team, led by husband and wife, Wayne and Diane. Also on our small team were, Matthew (aka Hollywood) whom would stay on with me later as a key Night Strike member, and Mark, who was the youth pastor, from Harvest Christian Church (but has since moved on).

On the streets, we encountered a homeless woman, I handed her some warm soup and started talking with her. I asked her if she would like for me to pray with her. She took a sip of her soup and replied, "Oh, sure. That would be nice."

As I started praying with her, the woman's body started to tremble and shake violently. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and she fell to the ground in an unconscious state. Diane, Mark, and I kneeled down next to the woman as she continued to shake on the filthy sidewalk. Diane prayed over her to bind the demonic presence, and the spirit hissed at her. I reached down and touched her ankle to pray with Diane. The spirit growled at me, "You're F-ing burning me! Don't touch me." Diane prayed some more. This was my first night in spiritual warfare training, and I was now knee deep in what the Christians call a deliverance prayer battle. It wasn't taking place on Holy grounds, like in the movies, it was taking place on a dirty, stinking side-walk. I could tell by the look on Mark's face - that this was a FIRST for him as well.

I moved my hand from the woman's ankle and touched her shoulder to pray. The spirit hissed at me again as I touched her, "You're burning me." Diane continued in prayer and tried to reach the tormented soul, but it wouldn't come up. The soul was rejecting the help of the Holy Spirit so stopped praying over the woman and moved on. We saw her an hour later, walking down the street like the event never occurred.

I just wanted to share that testimony, because my baptism into spiritual warfare, was anything but ordinary. Anything I have from my first year on Night Strike was always over the top. People in the church body would always tell me I was heading into deliverance ministry. But most of my experiences were anything but what was written about in popular deliverance books of the time. I never felt I was meant for deliverance ministry, but for something much darker, whatever that ministry was to be. I believe the book, A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare covered everything I needed to know about deliverance and I moved on to deeper and darker waters not long after I published that book.

Night Strike was a huge training ground for me as well as a great ministry for equipping others. The team members that comprised the Night Strike ministry teams got training that no school of supernatural ministry could ever provide. We dealt with everything from addiction and illnesses, broken bones healed, I think there was even a case of miraculous healing with HIV through prayer. We dealt with our share of demons and satanic angels. It was all over the map.   It was a time and moment, where the Holy Spirit just showed his students everything.  It was an incredible time in my life, that door has opened and long since closed. The Holy Spirit directed me to new areas of ministry during some incredible equipping seasons. In some of these training seasons, I was shown the occult in different parts of the world, and how the local pastors dealt with that in their region. These parts of the world include the countries, of Ethiopia, Guyanna South America, Haiti, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

What I didn't know is that my journey would take me into the controversial areas of Christianity, exorcism. This ministry wasn't an elected choice for me -rather, I ended up here. God places you where he wants you. The Holy Spirit took me to this point in my spiritual life in baby steps. Even though I was protected through His covering and training, I was still exposed to the powers of darkness and what they are capable of doing in sifting a man. I have seen my finances wiped out, my marriage violently shaken to the core, and too many other things to describe. The levels of oppression during attacks are off the chart. Furthermore, during these attacks, God puts a supernatural burden on you to pray for those he assigns to you for help. This is why only those who are delegated by the Holy Spirit should go into this ministry. God assigns it to you. You don't request it. Nor would you want to request it if you knew what was involved. I know there are a few of my Catholic friends have a hard time gripping the notion there are Protestant exorcists. Not all the Catholics, but there are a few. For me, it is difficult as well, explaining, a Pentecostal exorcism, which is not low-level deliverance prayer, is different, from the Roman Catholic Rite of Exorcism. Both deal with higher level demons and satanic angels.

What has significantly changed in my life through these trials has been the ever growing deeper connections with Jesus Christ. Many people ask me about the occult and what I know. It doesn't matter about what you know, it's about WHO YOU KNOW! During the deepest, most horrible sifting and tribulations, can you still connect with Jesus Christ? These battles, no matter how dark, are all about faith and the promises of the one who will deliver you from evil. What is a Pentecostal Exorcist? Someone that connect with God during deep heavy warfare and no matter how bad the attacks (and they're really nasty!), have the faith that there will be victory. When I work with people under attack, the first thing I do is work with them on their interior life and connecting with Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior. A lot of my roots of where I am at now came from the lessons in human compassion I learned on the streets as Night Strike member and then it's leader. Bob Johnson and Mark Neitz sowed a lot into me (prophetic and healing ministry). This was an education I couldn't get from anywhere else. Don't even think I would have gotten a better one if I were sent off to the Vatican for this ministry.

At times I feel like I am a lone sheep dog guarding the flock. This isn't a ministry for those seeking recognition. In the Protestant side of the church, this ministry is ridiculed, partly because there is a huge lacking in practical application warfare in seminary training. This is not part of the piece of paper Ph.D. receives when they graduate Bible college. Exorcism has been severely stigmatized for numerous reasons.,

1. The Western church doesn't believe in the existence of the Biblical angel titled Satan. They believe in the watered down -devil.
2. Satan has infiltrated the consumer market in deliverance material and deceived the church into believing they can battle him with spiritual authority. We are lesser than angels.
3. Exorcism has been stigmatized by the media by insane people grossly hurting or killing those in an exorcism.
4. The Protestant church tends to ridicule exorcism and believes that low-level deliverance is all that is necessary for all spiritual battles.
5. The Western church believes that exorcism solely is a ministry of the Catholic Church (which it pretty much is at this point).
6. Non-Catholic exorcists are entering the ministry who don't belong in it. A certificate on the Internet doesn't hold up against the forces of darkness. Beware of the charlatans!

When is exorcism necessary? Usually when you're dealing with the occult. Usually.  People and children can also be possessed as a chastizement for their generations of lack of respect to God (generational iniquity and occult practices). The focus of this ministry is to bring inner healing to severely demonically afflicted souls. Being oppressed, or having bad luck in finances, or having a dysfunctional family, are NOT the reasons to seek out the ministry of exorcism.

Ok. I meant to focus on talking about Deliverance and D.I.D., but for some reason, in the spirit, it was necessary to give some background of why I say things and where I am coming from. I have seen warfare from different aspects and different levels. I have seen the true evil the enemy is capable of doing to people. Perhaps, the true purpose of this is to give you a feel of when I make comments here, the theology, and practical applications come from the trenches. I also need to mention through the years and seasons, GOD sent me some incredible mentors. I didn't seek them out. The Holy Spirit provided them and placed them into my life.

So next blog entry, I promise, we'll discuss Deliverance and D.I.D. For some reason, I needed to clear the air on where I have been and how I got here.

Well, that's enough for now. Hope this was beneficial.
Blessings

Prophetic Ministry and Fractured Souls

In this installment, I would like to address a situation I have witnessed far too many times now in my counseling sessions with survivors of severe trauma and ritual abuse. Souls that are struggling with Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D.), what I refer to as a fractured soul, can have what is called a Christian host. That is a primary presenter, in the multiple identity fabric of consciousness that is saved and has a spiritual life. Because dissociation occurs in children who experience prolonged trauma in their childhood stages of development. Some identities in the system, when the person is an adult, tend to have a Christian host that is seeking healing from Jesus, and deep inside the consciousness of the soul, there are also parts that hate Jesus and want nothing to do with Him. This duplicity exists for two primary reasons, one the child may have called out to Jesus for help when the trauma was occurring and received no help, or two, a false Jesus was involved in ritual abuse trauma. So there are some very angry children parts or identities inside these individuals, that need counseling and spiritual direction, to walk them out of their repetitive cycle of trauma. These souls can be at church on a Sunday morning, trying to praise and worship God, while another tormenting inner struggle is going on for parts being angry at Jesus and wanting to walk out of the church. Some ritual abuse survivors are programmed to vehemently reject any teaching regarding Jesus. Sorry for the long introduction, but I want to paint an initial picture of what I would like to address next - Christians prophesying and doing deliverance on fractured souls.

Let’s address Christians prophesying over fractured souls first. I need to reinforce the fundamental concept here that there are fractured parts of the soul that are angry at Jesus. Jesus can and does heal these parts over a period of time. He walks them out of this torment to heal them. Jesus does not instantaneously heal fractured souls. Why? Because Jesus honors free will of the soul even in a fractured soul. When you accepted Jesus, He wooed you and pursued your heart. This is the same thing he does for fractured souls. When a well-meaning Christian prophesies over a fractured person that Jesus will instantaneously heal them, or bring full healing in a year, this is not from God but from the soul. It aligns biblically, but it is not how Jesus heals. By the way, in my prophetic training, it was taught as a faux pas to tell someone that they would be healed in a certain amount of time. As we work with fractured souls, we would love to know a faster way for healing, but so far, it has always been at the pace Jesus sets. Each session is a supernatural session for counseling where we see healing. However, my worst sessions of counselling are when a D.I.D. soul comes to me and is in torment because of a word prophesied to them at a Sunday evening prophetic meeting or conference. The parts that are angry and pop up in the session are the ones who fear being forcefully removed by Jesus because someone delivered a soul-ish prophetic word of instant miraculous healing. The identity is slowly turning to Jesus but hasn’t decided yet to make Him their Lord and Savior.

And boom!

Now they think Jesus is going to violate their free will. These souls won’t easily release the prophecy and will obsess over it. I have had some souls I worked with who have obsessed, for decades, over untrue prophetic words from famous conference speakers in the prophetic. It’s not the fault of the prophetic minister because they don’t know the person is D.I.D.  If you know someone is struggling with D.I.D., refrain from giving them a prophetic word on healing. This is one way Satan uses the gifts of the church to cause damage on a fractured soul. My prophetic words are simple, Jesus loves the part, and He is proud how strong the parts are. A D.I.D.-der will even push you for a prophetic word. Remember, these soul fractures are still children. They must have proper spiritual direction to learn to hear God for them self. And by that, I mean able to read the word and hear the gentle urges of the Holy Spirit and know the indwelling voice of God. One D.I.D.der I work with has a 5 year Christian host presenter. This individual is in a charismatic church. The 5 year old has mimicked all the fake experiences they have witnessed during church service. It has been a difficult climb up a steep mountain to unteach this person that God is completely experiential in this manner. By this I mean visions and prophetic words from the Holy Spirit constantly. The healing has been hindered because this soul doesn’t understand how to connect with God on the simplest basis. The soul is in a state of fabricating false spiritual experiences.

If you are working with a trauma survivor, avoid the charismatic prophetic words. These are fractured souls of children in an adult and they don’t know how to process bad prophetic words. To them, they think Jesus has forsaken them because they were bad. Which, spins the wheels of healing backwards in ministry session and counseling. I don’t know how many times I have shared this with families I work with of the severely traumatized, and they still don’t get the message. A D.I.D.-der needs to stay in an almost spiritually sterile environment as they heal. Prophesying over an unsaved part puts a mantle on them that they’re not ready for. It sets back the healing. I have had big guns from the prophetic speak over fractured souls, because the fractured person sought it out, or worse yet, their family members did, and we had to work to stabilize the internal damage that was done. I have worked with some individuals who weren’t even saved and families did this to them. I can understand the urgency, but also respect the process that Jesus uses. Jesus is going to heal the fractured soul and make them whole. But they must want it first. Pick up your mat and walk!

When someone, whom you know is D.I.D., asks you to hear from God, direct them to hear from God on their own. When they learn to connect with God they can begin to hear internally, what are spiritual lies from the enemy, and what is truth about them and their healing. The goal is to make the soul better off in their healing. We can't comprehend all the internal dynamics that goes on with D.I.D., but one thing that has surfaced is that the enemy turns prophetic ministry against the healing soul.

That's all for now...

Like's like I will need to discuss deliverance with fractured souls in another segment. There was a lot of information on prophetic ministry alone, right here.

Well, that's enough for now. Hope this was beneficial.

Interview with Laura Maxwell on Ritual Abuse

Last November I had the pleasure to be interviewed on Laura Maxwell's radio show - The Supernatural on Eternal Radio.

Laura has an incredible ministry of reaching New Agers and spiritualists with the Gospel. I was interviewed for a Halloween show on the subject of Ritual Abuse and Mind Control. Laura is in Scotland, and it was an honor to be on this show.

Laura did an incredible job of interviewing me on the subject matter. We actually had to do a second recording of the show because my mic wasn't recording. Go figure.

There are audio problems with this youtube file. My mic is a lot louder than Laura's. I will fix the audio levels and re-post. But for now, here is a great primer on ritual abuse and mind control. - Thank you so much, Laura, for having me on. This is valuable information to get out to the public on this subject matter. It's a high-level view of the incredible inner healing and life changing ministry we are doing at In the Potter's Hands.

The interview is posted below, but it can be found on the Laura Maxwell's blog, Healing of PTSD, SRA, DID, and MK Ultra: Michael Norton.

Well, that's enough for now. Hope this was beneficial.
